How much effort and energy do we pour in to trying to manifest better lives for ourselves? Most of our efforts are for goals and plans centered on improving. We spend countless hours thinking about what could be different in our work, our relationships, our home, our kids, our body…And. And. And.
At the root of this mental merry-go-round is our quest for whatever we believe to be our ‘potential’. We crave more. We believe ‘it’ must be beyond us, out there, somewhere in the future. However every moment we spend fixated on ‘what’s yet to come’ comes at the expense of ‘what is’ (the moment we are in). Our life is NOW. This is the only moment we actually have.
It is impossible to be fully in the moment and at the same time be planning, wishing, hoping and wondering about the future. It is wonderful to engage in dreaming and planning is a necessary part of life but it is also good to remember that it does come at a price and all too often we don’t consider what we give up by ‘being elsewhere’. True peace comes from acceptance of ‘what is’. The moment we find ourselves in is not always our idea of perfect but it is all we actually have and it is exactly as it needs to be.
The same goes for our relationship with our body, before I took the Deeper Cravings Path™ I lived in a ‘for now’ body. I believed my REAL body was waiting for me somewhere in the future, somewhere down the road when I would finally lose the weight…what I have come to realize is that the quest for a different body was, in and of itself, the source of the majority of the pain I was experiencing related to my weight. My life is now. My body is NOW. The body I am in at this very moment is the only body I have. This is the body that offers me all that I love. This is the body to which I owe unfathomable gratitude.
IS IT TIME FOR YOU TO FIND PEACE IN YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR BODY? TAKE THE DEEPER CRAVINGS PATH™. JOIN ME IN SEATTLE, WA FOR A SPECIAL WEEKEND RETREAT APRIL 12-14TH,2013. LIMITED TO 14 PARTICIPANTS. FOR REGISTRATION DETAILS GO TO: https://deepercravings.com/coming-events/
By arriving in my body and by learning to accept it through the Deeper Cravings practices I do not always find dazzling beauty in my cellulite, my curvy hips or my belly rolls (although catch me at the right meditative moment and I sometimes can 🙂 ). What I have finally found is stillness and peace in the acceptance.
